Top 5 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 2

Week 1 is two games away from being in the books, and you might already be scrambling to replace players on your squad (Dez Bryant, T.Y. Hilton, Andre Ellington).  So, we thought we would help you out and take a look at the 5 best waiver wire pickups this week.

5. Donte Moncrief (10% Owned – Yahoo, 31% Owned – ESPN):

There’s a chance that T.Y. Hilton misses an extended amount of time, and Moncrief is essentially the guy who’s next up on the WR depth chart in Indy.  I prefer Moncrief to the rookie Phillip Dorsett, who actually coughed up a fumble on Sunday.

4. David Johnson (21% Owned – Yahoo, 37% Owned – ESPN):

Andre Ellington is another guy who could potentially be missing some time (not to mention the fact he’s already had several issues with injuries in the past).  Did you also see the blazing speed from D. Johnson on his game-sealing 55-yard TD catch?  Arizona might need a new RB to step up, and while Chris Johnson is currently next in line on the depth chart, I see David Johnson as the more valuable stash.  Even if he doesn’t see a ton of work in week 2, he could help your team big time down the road.

3. Ladarius Green (20% Owned – Yahoo, 6.7% Owned – ESPN):

Antonio Gates is out three more weeks, and Ladarius took advantage of Gates being out week 1.  He posted a pretty solid stat line of 5 catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.  If your TE is not producing like Gronk or Travis Kelce, Green could help out major on your team.

2. Terrance West (5% Owned – Yahoo, 23.2% Owned – ESPN):

While Bishop Sankey had a pretty good Sunday, he’s not necessarily anything special, so I can see him conceding a lot of work to Terrance West.  You’re not going to start West in week 2, but this could turn into a valuable grab-n-stash.  He saw a lot of goal line opportunities, but unfortunately couldn’t convert.  He also lost a fumble.  So, while things don’t look great right now, I could see him working his way back to getting a heavy workload in the redzone.  Since he messed up a couple of big opportunities, no one else should be running to grab him.

1. Marcus Mariota (46% Owned – Yahoo, 35.7% Owned – ESPN):

Two Titans players on one list, I feel crazy.  Let’s be real, their first game was against what seemed to easily be the worst team in the NFL – the Bucs.  So, you’re not going to want to rush out there and start Mariota over any other solid QB on your team, but they do have another seemingly solid matchup against the Browns in week 2.  The star rookie QB is definitely still worth a pickup.

Other Players to Watch:

Terrance Williams – WR, Dallas

James Jones – WR, Green Bay

Brandon McManus – K, Denver

Percy Harvin – WR, Buffalo

Benny Cunningham – RB, St. Louis

Alex Smith – QB, Kansas City

Ronnie Hillman – RB, Denver

Eric Ebron – TE, Detroit

Brandon Coleman – WR, New Orleans

Tyrod Taylor – QB, Buffalo
