Comfortable, reliable, and durable, the Bodega x New Balance 997S disrupts the ideas that shoes made from luxe materials can’t be worn in certain conditions, or that shoes with bright colorways can be difficult to pair with many outfits.
It’s been 30 years since the 997, a high performance running shoe, debuted, and the New Balance x Bodega 997S transfers this ‘no days off’ ethos to a lifestyle realm, but lifestyle doesn’t mean idleness.
This sneaker is not meant for the sneakerhead who puts plastic bags on his shoes in the rain – this is a shoe for everyday use, to wear outside and do actual stuff in. Wear them in the rain; get dirt on them.
A sleek update of the classic 997 silhouette, the 997S features a mesh upper outfitted with leather and distressed suede overlays, signature, New Balance dual ABZORB and ENCAP cushioning, a dimple embossed neoprene bootie construction, X-Pac laminate heel counter and wavy mudguard design inspired by the 660.
The 997S is just the latest in the New Balance’s 997 family, preceded by the release of the 997H earlier this year.
On Thursday, April 4th, the 997S will release exclusively on the NTWRK app, and in-store at the Boston and Los Angeles Bodega locations as well as online at bdgastore.com on Saturday, April 6th. Retail is $160.
