The Sneakhype Bro, with his affinity for highlighter green and curious affection for spark-plug Leandro Barbosa in NBA2K, has always been into Brazil generally and the Brazilian broad specifically (and let’s be real, the Brazilian broad has always been into the Sneakhype Bro).
On July 18th, us here at Sneakhype decided to throw a little soiree on the count of it being our 4-year anniversary, and we had just launched our online shop. We had the pleasure of collaborating with Tequila Avion for the party who supplied us with some of the most delicious tequila these taste buds have ever came in contact with.
F*ckin’ A, sneakhype bro. It’s movie night with the lady friend, and she’s not too happy with the last four selections you made at redbox: the Batman with Jack as the Joker; the Batman with the ever foxy Michelle Pfeiffer1 as cat woman; and the two Christian Bail Batmans. Evidently the import of preparing for The Dark Knight Rises escapes her. Has there ever been an actress who 1) employed the back to back consonant combo of pf in their name and 2) appeared in two movies in a three year span that fulfilled about 97% of adolescent male sexual fantasies: a blonde in a skin-tight leather cat-suit and a domineering, sexy first year teacher in the hood of LA? Let’s think: in the latter department, Halle Berry gave a valiant effort with a riveting performance (both sexually and theatrically) as an impoverished, single, about-to-bone Billy Bob Thorton MILF in Monster’s Ball. Alas, she fell short with a piss poor Catwoman movie. And we can’t think of any actress or actor fulfilling the former ‘pf’ criteria. If you, reader, can help up with this quandary, please add your ideas to the comments section. [↩]
So, we are a day or two late for Instagram’s #throwbackthurdays. Nevertheless, we here at D.O.W. think it’s prime time to bring back a high-school gem that foreshadowed our enthusiasm for creative mixology. Think back to high school for a moment—locker real estate was the prime barometer for social status1, you were painstakingly crafting your online identity so that you both looked like a badass on Facebook, and didn’t expose any information which would get you grounded, and whenever your 21+ brother came to town and you wanted to be a high roller, you would invariably ask him to add three essential items to the liquor run: Hpnotiq2, Corona (the beer of preference of all people who don’t know anything about beer), and Bacardi Limon, for the same reasons as the Corona, except for shooting purposes.3 Never would any of these ingredients have met except for the fact that Sneakhype co-founder EG is a perpetual innovator and one night there were no limes on hand. Unwilling to drink a Corona straight, our man tossed back a few shots of the Bacardi to spur his mental machinery and then, as legend has it, did something momentous. EG consumed approximately 3 oz.… More →
There’s been two things that you guys have been wanting for awhile now. One has been an iPhone app (unfortunately that’s not the one you’re getting today), and two, Sneakhype merchandise. We just launched our online shop, and have some dope gear available for purchase.
Last week in Switzerland, a team of physicists activated the CERN Large Hadron Collider and identified evidence of the Higgs Boson particle, a formerly theoretical component of the “Standard Model” of the universe, which purports to explain why matter possesses mass.1 They celebrated their discovery the way people the world over celebrate anything: they downed a bunch of shots of tequila.2 . We at Sneakhype salute these scientists who have dedicated their lives to uncovering the mysteries of the cosmos and we approve of their drink of choice. As you’ll see in future entries in this column, tequila is a favorite of ours as well and we don’t require anything as momentous as a Nobel to throw some down.3 In fact, give us a bottle of Avión Reposado tequila and that’s cause for celebration enough (we’ll take a shot glass and some tabasco sauce too, thanks). But say you’re trying to up the ante a bit and want to demonstrate your mixological prowess? In that case, shots won’t work and simply tossing tequila and orange juice together and calling it a day won’t do, either. Really, this is stuff to be savored, combined with muddled ingredients, topped with a garnish, and… More →
Sneakhypers, these are interesting, fast-changing times we’re living in. To name but a few of the most prominently curious features of the present landscape, holographic Tupac may soon surpass real (but deceased) Tupac in fame1; our economy is powered entirely by iPhone apps2 (yes, these are footnotes); and two of the most potent corporate forces on Earth (those being Frito-Lay and Yum! Brands, Inc.) have partnered to give the American people something we’ve somehow always wanted but haven’t been able to envision until now, the Taco Bell Doritos Locos Tacos.3 So, yes, things are interesting. And sometimes, in times like these, we all need to take a step back and chill out and have a god damn drink. This is, of course, where we at Sneakhype can be of some assistance. Over the coming months, two guest editors new to Sneakhype (T-Ro and myself, DBS) will provide you with some advice about the particular cocktails that will juice your goose with the Drink of the Week. This week’s DOW: The Brojito. The scenario is as follows: it’s a hot summer evening and you approach the bar looking not only for a stiff cocktail, but also for some refreshment. We want… More →
