Back in 1982, Jean-Michel Basquiat painted this Untitled piece. 35 years later that painting would go onto break several the record for the most expensive work by any US artist, the most expensive work by a black artist, and the first $100 million USD artwork to have been created after 1980.
The piece was expected to sell for around $60 million but a bidding war drove the price up to the $110 million dollar mark. So who is the bad ass that copped this work of art? 41-year-old fashion entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa from Japan.
