Over the weekend, Nike celebrated their partnership with the NBA with the unveiling of their new uniforms. Along with new designs and fresh colorways, the new Nike jerseys will also feature NIKEconnect – an interactive element that allows jersey owners to connect with their favorite player and much more.
Each jersey comes with a unique NFC chip — the same technology used for apple pay – built into the jock tag. Fans simply scan the tag with their phone and they are instantly connected to an app that provides users with access to exclusive highlights, stats, tickets and most importantly, sneaker deals. Nike is calling it “the future of fan apparel,” and they seem to be correct.
The new Nike NBA jerseys will be available in stores on Friday, September 29 at Nike retailers, online and at NBA’s official website. The jerseys range from $100-$200. NikeConnect is compatible with the iPhone 7 and newer models as well as Android.
