Pro Surfer Fights off Shark Attack on Live TV

Professional surfer Mick Fanning was getting ready to catch some waves during the J-Bay Open Surfing Competition in South Africa when he was attacked by a shark. The entire incident was caught on camera. Fanning, who was unharmed, was able to fight off the shark before it could do any damage. Check out the crazy footage below…

Fanning broke down the attack in an interview following his rescue. Skip to the 3:35 mark to see that…

“I was just sitting there, I was just about to start moving, and then I felt something grab, just get stuck in my leg rope. I instantly just jumped away, and then it just kept coming at my board. I was kicking and screaming…. I just saw fins. I was waiting for the teeth to come at me. I punched it in the back.”

The competition was suspended after the shark attack. They should just cancel it and give Mick Fanning the gold, silver and bronze medals. Dude punched a shark and lived to tell the tale.
