Certain numbers in the NBA have been worn by multiple Hall of Fame-worth players. For instance, 33 was worn by Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Deciding which player was the best to ever wear #33 is an almost impossible task.
Luckily for us, the guys over at Mitchel & Ness decided to settle this debate. Not just for the #33, but for every number ever worn in the NBA, starting with #00 and ending with #99.
Here is the breakdown:
*Note: there are 14 numbers that have never been worn in the NBA. Second, Mitchell & Ness decided that any player who ever wore the number was eligible to be the best at that number. For example, Karl Malone wore #32 in Utah for 18 seasons before he moved to Los Angeles where he wear #11, so when picking #11 we considered The Mailman and his amazing career.
