If you’re in Lawrence tonight you should definitely check out The Cook Kids who are playing @ The Granada. Other performances include SNEAKHYPE friends, Greg Enemy & Stik Figa, also Approach will be there. We’re getting ready to leave the building to catch up with the Kids for an interview, so look for that in the next few days.
Since SNEAKHYPE is homegrown in Lawrence, KS I think it’s time to update you on KU basketball. Yuuuuuupppp. We’re pre-season #1. Two All-Americans and possibly four first-round NBA draft picks next year? Yezzzir. Anything less then a National Championship would be disastrous for a team that goes 13 deep(our bench can beat your starters). What’s that you say Josh Herwitt? We have 2 of the top 5 players in college basketball? Alright I’ll stop bragging, enjoy the summer KU fans.
We are proud to present to you Thee SNEAKHYPE Show, May 21st @ the Granada in Lawrence. We’ll be having fine performances from Dimwit Syndicate, Critical & last, but certainly not least Greg Enemy. If you’d like to come out & show your support we’d appreciate it, and your certain to have a good time. You can check out Greg Enemy here, and Dimwit Syndicate here. We hope to see you there!
Two KU recruits recently got the cover of SLAM magazine, John Wall and Lance Stephenson. Both are ranked as top 10 recruits and are making their college decision very soon. Since Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich are returning for another season it look’s as though Kansas has a better chance of getting Lance Stephenson then John Wall. Stephenson was supposed to announce his intentions to go to Kansas a couple weeks ago but thanks to the recent Calipari/Kentucky recruit situation, he is still considering other schools. Let’s not forget about Xavier Henry, another top ten recruit who originally signed to Memphis but now is looking at either Kansas or Kentucky. Kansas only has one scholarship for 3 recruits, so it will be interesting to see who they end up with. Whoever it is, Kansas is still the heavy favorite to cut down the nets in 2010.
In order to bring you top-notch hype, we like to keep ourselves up-to-date on what’s going on in the marketplace. That being said, we’d like to extend an offer to the Wall Street Journal: “In tough times, we understand you’d like to save money and cut back on expenses. So we’d like to give you a chance to hire our editors, who require no more than $245,800 a year plus bennies and a plush 401K, to ensure that things like this^^^ happen no longer (front page no less?) We eagerly await your response. Sincerely, Team Sneakhype”. Check out the botch in detail after the jump.
Months ago I posted on Lance Stephenson, the heavily recruited HS player from New York City. Lance aka Born Ready aka the No. 1 in the Class of 2009 by the Hoop Scoop and No. 9 by Rivals has a lot of hype and for good reason. The senior at the powerhouse Lincoln High-School in Brooklyn was originally supposed to announce his school on Saturday but has decided to wait till April 1st at the Mcdonald’s All-American game in Miami. Sources close to Stephenson have said Maryland is no longer in the running and that it’s in between Kansas and St. Johns. C’mon St. Johns or Kansas? Is Kansas going lose another big name recruit this year? Nah man we defending Natty Champs. This is what needs to happen so everybody is happy. . . St John’s needs to fire Norm Roberts(they’re no good anyway) so Bill Self can rehire him back as an assistant at Kansas(he was an assistant under Bill Self for many years) Genius or what? Who is Lance Stephenson? I bet you Lawrence is about to find out very soon. Check out the video above featuring Fat Joe and Baron Davis talking about the hype behind Stephenson. P.S. he got that cover of Bounce magazine as a sophomore. Believe… More →
It’s been a crazy year for college basketball in general, how’d your team do? Oh my team..? We’re alright, you know… hanging in there (defending National Champs, 5 straight regular season Big 12 titles, Coach of the Year). Since the college basketball season is winding down and tourny time is upon us I feel Sneakhype hasnt given enough love to our college players. Anyways I’m starting a fresh little feature called Kicks on Campus. Each week I’ll give you the low down on what kicks are being worn on the court. Take a look after the jump.
Our main man LoveJones has just leaked 2 tracks from his upcoming album Sunday Drive. Sit on the Moon has a very chill beat and is about killing time on Sundays, sitting around smoking blunts all day. We at SNEAKHYPE cannot relate, because none of the OG crew would ever ever expose ourselves or our precious lungs to that illegal narcotic. Riiiiiiiiight. Anyways, the second track, Get Up, is more congruent with today’s hip-hop game, and is a true banger. You really gotta check out week 9 of Mike Murder on LoveJones’ myspace. More pics of the 785-reppin emcee here
Now, y’all’ready know that the SNEAKHYPE crew’s got talent, but check out what some of our local homies are crankin out. Our man IEOR pretty much owns Lawrence, and is reppin the beloved 785 pretty hard. Originally from Chi-town, he’s bringing his big city talent down to the heartland. Look out for some SNEAKHYPE X IEOR collabs to drop in the Spring. Yeah, get excited. Meanwhile, check out
Yeah me. EG. This is a wall mural I did for my man, Beez. He’s got an attic that he calls The Heavens. I used 4 Krink steel tip markers, as well as, a 60mL Krink mop. At the end of the video, you’ll see a skyline of the University of Kansas and a Jayhawk. I wish I could say I did those, but those were done by the most sneakhype chica you’ll ever meet in your life, if you should ever have the pleasure of doing so, Hannah Z. You would be disrespecting SNEAKHYPE a great deal if you don’t click the link to see more photos…
Local Lawrence Artist Jordan Tarrant has a new video out of a painting of he recently did of Obama. The whole painting is made using the word “Change”, it is crazy. The video is dope and the piece turned out really well, I saw it in person at one of his shows recently and it looks great. Check it out.
