Virgil Abloh and Nike continue to expand their partnership with the introduction of the MoMA Air Force 1, which was designed by Virgil.
The AF1 features a black upper, silver swoosh and Virgil’s signature inscription on the side. The collaboration also featured a co-branded Nike Elite Basketball sock that comes with each purchase of the shoe.
A release date hasn’t been unveiled yet but it should be announced in the near future. More images and video of the sneaker below.
Since the inaugural launch of Virgil Abloh x Nike’s “The Ten” collaboration, the sneaker world has been buzzing wondering if a sequel is in the works. Following the confirmation of the Virgil Abloh x Air Jordan 1 in white, Nike and Abloh have confirmed the next release: a black upper version of the retooled Air Force 1.
Previously previewed as a collaboration alongside The Museum of Modern Art in NYC, Abloh’s confirmation follows a collaborative hoodie done by @avanope for the museum’s Items: Is Fashion Modern? exhibition. The Swoosh joins MoMA’s celebration of fashion with the launch of the OFF-WHITE™ by Virgil Abloh for MoMA x Nike Air Force 1 black edition, in addition to a co-branded Nike Elite basketball sock as a gift with purchase. As an additional bonus, a special archive print originally published in ‘06 will be re-introduced under the title: 1Thology: The Air Force 1 to celebrate the sneaker’s cultural impact and basketball history.
