At ComplexCon 2017, Nike celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Air Force 1—one of the most iconic silhouettes in sneaker culture since it first released in 1982. To celebrate the AF1 throughout the weekend, programming at the Nike space included the AF-100 Center Court for talks, music performances and more; Master Classes led by key collaborators; the AF1 “Grails Wall” in partnership with Round 2; and the retail area with high heat product for sale.
AF-100 Footwear at the Retail Space
To commemorate its legendary status, Nike partnered with five key visionaries from around the world- Virgil Abloh, Errolson Hugh, Don C., Roc-a-fella, and Travis Scott-in celebration of the shoe’s defining colorway, white-white.
The retail space also includes Air Force 1 t-shirts limited edition t-shirts are also for sale at the Nike space.
Air Force 1 “Grails Wall”
Nike also brought back the wall of Air Force 1 “Grails”. This year, Nike partnered with Round Two to present 100 of the best limited edition Air Force 1s of all time. These Air Force 1 Grails featured key collabortors and communities that have helped make the Air Force 1 their own.
All consumers that entered the Nike space have the opportunity to enter the AF-100 raffle for a chance to win one of the 100 rare pairs on the wall.
AF-100 Master Classes
Throughout the weekend, Nike is offered consumers the opportunity to sign up for “Master Classes” with Nike designers and collaborators. Consumers who signed up, could customize their own pair of white-white Air Force 1s with an infinite number of options.
Saturday’s Master Classes were led by Don C., Public School and Errolson Hugh.
All in all, it was a successful event for Nike and the Air Force 1. A line was around their booth throughout both days. Make sure you get your tickets for ComplexCon next year to see if Nike can top this year.
