Dopeness

An open letter from Chief Dopeness Officer, EG:

The people have spoken.  You want the old Dopeness gallery back, so we’re going to give it back… tomorrow.  We’re just going to gather 2 full days of analytics and see how users engage with the content so that we can go back to the drawing board and give you the best user interface possible.

Here’s the deal, we know there’s room for improvement, but clearly we didn’t get it right with that first try.  We really appreciate your feedback, and that’s why we’re going to switch back.  It seems that there exist particular problems for mobile users (which make-up nearly 20% of our visitors).  So stick with us for one more day, and come Hump Day, we’ll go back to what you’re used to.

We read every comment, every tweet, every email.  Thank you.  Please know though, we probably will experiment with new formats in the future.  I think people are inherently resistant to change.  Remember the sweeping Facebook updates?  People HATED them, literally millions of people joined or Liked groups in opposition to the changes.  But now, people can barely remember what Facebook was like prior to the changes… and more importantly, no one cares.  Unlike the bigwigs, we feel the Dopeness is as much yours as it is ours, so for now, we’ll serve it up as ordered.

UPDATE: We switched back to the old way TODAY because it was slowing down the site and causing intermittent down-time.  Whoooooops.  Sorry guys.  We’re back!
