Fall in northern Japan means rice harvesting season. It also makes the beginning of the Wara Art Festival.
Every year, students from the Musashino Art University are sent to the Niigata region of Japan to participate in the festival. The art students use left over rice straws from the harvest to create gigantic straw animals. This year, the animals included a gorilla, lion, rhinoceros, crocodile and more.
