Banksy, the notorious street artist, is back with a new piece that was spotted in London over the weekend. The piece appeared on the walls of the Barbican Art Gallery, which will be hosting a Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition for the next 3 months.
The piece is ironic in that the Barbican is known to keep its walls free of graffiti and street art while also hosting artworks from an artist of that genre. Banksy pointed this out in his piece that is an ode to Basquiat’s “Boy and Dog in a Johnnypump” painting. The stencil features police officers stopping and searching the subject of Basquiat’s work.
