A unique design trend continues to gain traction throughout the interwebs, and every hipster with a pirated copy of Photoshop is contributing to the craze.
It’s called “Low Poly” design… literally meaning “a low/small number of polygons”. It has a certain nostalgia factor for 80’s babies… as we recall the days of Goldeneye and Natalya’s sweet triangular tittaes.
In fact, I was so intrigued by this design trend personally, that I spent a few hours in Photoshop tracing hundreds of triangles on my own face hoping to look as cool as the dude with the neck tat above.
No doubt, Low Poly certainly has some appeal. Aesthetically, it looks super clean. Plus, it is very “lightweight” so it translates to the (mobile) web very easily. After looking around a bit, here are some of my faves:
Download low poly design backgrounds and wallpapers
Many of the designs seen above are available in hi-res download for desktop and phone backgrounds here.
Make your own low poly art
If you know your way around Photoshop and/or Illustrator, here are a couple tutorials I would recommend:
You can also cheat and use a low poly design generator, but it doesn’t always work very well and doesn’t look nearly as good as doing it manually.
buy low poly design stuff
Like this sweet low poly bird candle.
Also, this artist is probably the baddest dude in the Triangle Game.
